Notes from the Community Director

Updated: Oct 19, 2021

Hi Klahanie Residents!

If you haven't been by the office in awhile we have almost a completely new team and have made some cosmetic improvements to make the space more inviting and useable for the staff.

Over the past year since my arrival last August, I have had a chance to bring on new staff with amazing talent. We added Keith Freeman as the Sports and Recreation Director to oversee not just the aquatics team but courts and family programming. During the summer you might have had opportunity to take yoga in the park, a meditation series, or high intensity lunch class at one of our parks.

During the pandemic while people were working and schooling from home we saw a rise in home improvement projects. Rightfully so! What a great time to do projects around the house. What we were happy to see once contractors and construction started up again was the rise in ACC applications. I had to reconfigure the staffing to keep up with demand. I added Bobby Nguyen to the team initially to take on both ACC and Compliance, then quickly realized that ACC really needed a dedicated person to adequately serve the resident's demand for projects.

With Compliance being unattended I promoted Sharon Manyara who started with our team around the same time that I did. Sharon moved from the resident relations position to Compliance Manager. I was impressed on how friendly, detailed, and caring she was with each of our residents. Since starting the role she quickly began improving our internal processes and adding the consistency we so desperately needed with our rules and regulations.

Haley has been promoted to Assistant Community Manager and handles all of the accounting questions, resale documents, Board Governance and assists with operations for Klahanie.

Steve Durr is by far our oldest employee, not by age, but tenure. This year he celebrated 13 years in Maintenance and at the service of the Klahanie community.

I would be remiss if I didn't mention all of our lifeguards and swim instructors. This year we celebrated staff who had been here for over 5 years. It's incredible that we have an aquatics team that is dedicated to doing such good work to keep the community safe and environment clean when residents use the pools.

Right now we are in planning process for the 2022 budget cycle, completing the 2020 audit, and 2021 - 2022 Reserve Study. There's so much great work going on and I have been excited to have the opportunity to serve you as your Community Director.

Thank you for always being kind and patient with myself and staff as we continue to build and improve the infrastructure to support Klahanie.

Feel free to give me a call to chat or share your thoughts

Sincerely,

S
